TEREGROUP-BIOTECH PHOTOBIOREACTORS

Teregroup-biotech began manufacturing its first photobioreactors for microalgae production, choosing a vertical installation. This offers advantages in terms of more uniform distribution of microalgae, CO2, and air, while facilitating gravity-driven emptying.

state-of-the-art 3D CAD software

Teregroup-biotech, with its in-house technical department equipped with state-of-the-art 3D CAD software, is able to design and produce customized and innovative photobioreactors, also using 3D printing to create prototypes quickly.

Photobioreactors are cultivation systems designed to optimize the growth of photosynthetic microorganisms (microalgae, cyanobacteria, and photosynthetic bacteria). They can be of various types depending on their shape and the technologies they employ. Photobioreactors require advanced technologies, especially for controlling all process parameters, but they allow for a higher biomass yield.

Essentially, they are sealed containers containing a culture liquid, equipped to ensure the correct supply of nutrients, carbon dioxide, and energy. Photobioreactors are structures in which the culture does not come into contact with the atmosphere or other types of contaminants (dust, precipitation, other microorganisms, insects, and animals).

The primary function of a photobioreactor is to ensure a controlled process that allows for the production of high concentrations of biomass from a single species. Indeed, it is in the best interest of maintaining a monoculture and avoiding any competition between different species, which would inevitably lead to a decline in productivity. Our plant uses a high-performance photobioTG-Biotech photobioreactor, whose unique features compared to common photobioreactors are the following:
